I feel that Riley doesnt need a ton of candy so instead we got him the cutest Halloween gift ever...

He was born on Riley's bday.. how cool is that!

He needs a name still.. I said Beelz (after Stephen Lynch's song, since he was a halloween gift) or Tauren (after the "cows" Miguel & I play in
World of Warcraft. ) since he is black & white like a cow..

Riley was classic Curious George for Trick or Treat.. We only went to 3 old neighbors that my grandma is still friends w/ that she wanted me to show him off too. He quickly learned there was crinkly wrappers in the bowls.. not sure if he really understood that they were candy since they were reeses or snickers (which he cant have so miguel and i ate)

Riley turned to the tv a second before I took this but they had been looking at each other

One year...

took him about 10 minutes to climb in his bday gift.. ugh

nursin w/ his bday crown lol

eating his breakfast yogurt (which is the only way i got the crown to stay on for more than a second)

He
- says mama,mom, dad, dog, that, elp (help), done ..
- has one tooth you can see and 5 more that have cut thru the gums all at once but you gotta be up close to see.
- could walk if he didnt get freaked when he realizes hes not holding onto anything. He speeds behind a push cart though lol
- will eat anything and everything.. dont even think about eating in from of him and not sharing.
- will crawl over to the clean diapers and grab one after hes pooped (so hopefully potty training will be easy)
- goes to bed really easily.. When hes tired he nurses and then will point upstairs. He lays right down w/out fussing and sleeps normally 8hrs at a time.
- LOVES music and Curious George (His party is on Saturday and is Curious George themed)

For those of you on my f-list that has a penis or has had boys heres a question for ya...

Riley is almost a year (on the 27th) and teething like crazy. The teething has caused HORRIBLE diapers.
This morning I changed him around 8 and then he pooped shortly after and I changed him again. When I changed him that time there was a blister like spot on the foreskin on the underside of penis. Right beside the blister is a teeny tiny really red raw looking spot. There is another red raw spot on the "seam" on his sac. Now there was a bit of over all redness at the first diaper change so I put a bit of a&d ointment on him. I dont know if the horrible teething poo diaper could cause a blister that fast. (He was in the poo diaper maybe 2 minutes I wanted to make sure he was completely done) I have since let him play in the tub to get it good and clean and put destin cream on it.
Since its Sunday should I just monitor it and if the destin doesnt help get him to the dr in the morning or is a sudden blister on the penis something to take him to a well clinic for? Miguel and I cant agree on what to do.
A few facts that might help you help me to decide...
1) hes intact
2) we cloth diaper (and have made no changes to the wash in months)
3) Teething
4) eats a ton of table foods (but has had nothing new)
5) Miguel has a had a rash on his finger that he has been treating w/ cream and wrapping. He has been very careful to keep that finger wrap when dealing w/ Riley. And this blister on Riley doesn't look like how his rash started

So what should I do take him somewhere today or watch it till tomorrow? Is there a better cream than destin?

i went to the dr yesterday.. i'm down 40lbs since my last visit and my last visit i was already 3lbs smaller then when i had riley. I knew things were fitting looser but I thought it might have been cause all my stuff is old and stretched out. Totally surprized it was that much

We are tryin to motivate riley to crawl forward instead of just backwards all the time. We put some kix cereal on the floor and he actually went forward to get it.. So we jokingly kept putting them down. It looked like pacman. My friend helped edit the video.

Finally got the package I've been waiting for and I have to show it off.
Keely was amazing and made a diaper for me based on this shirt.

I asked if she could make something like the happy heiny's cloth diaper keychain since I couldnt find any store that I shop from selling them. Its about 1 inch.. its so cute.
She made me one w/ a R for Riley on it

I cant wait to order more from her! I love seeing them when they are done.

8 months old.. update

So I know its been forever but its hard to get time to type something up. If I actually have 2 hands to type theres normally something else I gotta do..lol Or Miguel is home and I'm spending time w/ him.

Riley is:
- 8 months 2 weeks old
- 14lbz 7ozs (which is what I weighted at 9 months)
- finally better from thrush
- teething, which is giving him a runny nose and some "snotty" diapers... delightful.
- sleeping through the night from about 10:40 - 8 or 9 am. Though the teething caused him to get up once last night for some boob.
- trying so hard to crawl. But he gets lazy about lifting his "coconut" head as Miguel says.

Riley loves:
- food! any and all types of food.. he prefers to pick up little pieces or strips himself and eat. He wants whatever we are having. He LOVES hamburger. He gets all excited the minute he sees Miguel start to form the pattys. He also likes multigrain waffles w/ homemade fruit puree spread on top.
- his stack ring toy thing. He will play w/ it over and over taking rings off and "nomming" on them .. he tries to put them back on
- "garbage" as Miguel calls it. This kid loves love loves empty pop bottles, cardboard boxes, tin foil balls. He gets SOOOOOOOO excited when he sees a coke bottle..lol its crazy. Yesterday he lugged around his empty yogurt cup all day. He played w/ it on the floor and held it while he nursed. He even carried it upstairs to the tub and played w/ it in there.
- curious george cartoon on pbs. He will sit pretty still watching it as soon as he hears the theme.
- bobby, my grandmas little mop of a dog. He wants to put him and play w/ him all the time. Bobby however was scared to death of Riley till llast week then he realized Riley drops food. He will sit under RIley's highchair and clean the floor and lick rileys toes..lol

Riley hates:
- me leaving the room.
- being in the car too long.
- hates when i wont give him the tv remote.
- having to wait for food to be ready.
- when I make him play on the floor and I wont help him stand so that I can do something like fold clothes, stuff diapers or this update.

Riley can:
- feed himself finger foods really well.
- say Mama! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQzzhQ_aupc its dark but you can hear him. He says it nonstop most days now..lol once he figured out that I'll look him when he says it he hasnt stopped.
- jump like crazy in his jumperoo.
- pull the towel/blanket off his head when we play peek-a-boo .. ( he can also pull it off mine/miguels but pulling it off his own was harder for him to figure out)
- pull himself up on his own if hes already sitting.
- almost get himself sitting from laying down.
- mimic different things we do.. like smacking the highchair tray in the same beat as we do. And he will mimic sounds Miguel makes but he will not say "papa" (which is what miguel wants to be called) He just gives miguel this delivish look like I know what you want but I wont do it.

Well He's flipping out so I gotta wrap this up. I'm doing ok.. I'm on my period this week.. horrible cramps ugh! and I had to cut yeast and sugar out of my diet. OMG so not fun.

Riley and I went to Atlantic City this weekend.. It was 92 degrees there and sooo nice.. Riley wasnt so sure if he liked nature

Since Riley has been able to sit up on his own, we've sat him up in the bassinet pulled up beside the desk in the office. He liked being level w/ us while playing.. Well today he pulled himself into a standing position in the bassinet and then was stuck cause the side was too low once he got standing... He now plays in the playpen on the lowest setting..lol Surprizingly he doesnt flip out as much about being lower as I thought he would...
He also slept through the night last night which was LOVELY...
He feeds himself pretty well w/ finger foods..

The basket wasnt as sturdy as I thought it was so right away he fell over in it cause he was tryin to wiggle away from the "grass". This of course pissed him off and this is the face I was getting

So I got my first goodmama in the mail today.. i'm TOTALLY lost as how to snap it in the smallest setting for Riley... I snap the hip snap (?) and then fold the top over to snap the rest? it doesnt seem like i can fold it once I snap the hip snap if i'm even snapping the right thing.. I tried googling for help and nothing seems to be coming up that makes sense.. boo i wanna put this on him!

Riley's 1st Stephen Lynch show!

So many of you know that I photographed 75+ shows of comedian Stephen Lynch and run www.lynch-mob.net (that is getting a major overhaul very very soon.) I didnt get to see a show at all in 2008 (due to my moms passing,being pregnant, and the HIGH gas prices) which was so not like me seeing that the 75+ shows were all done in 5 years... Friday night Stephen had a show in Cleveland/Lorain Ohio which is 2 hours from me. Seeing as that would be the closest show till he actually hits the 'burgh this fall I HAD to go.

Since Riley refuses a bottle/sippy cup, I knew he would have to go w/ us as 6 hours is too long for him to not nurse. A friend was suppose to go to help watch him in the lobby so I could enjoy the show. But in true fashion for this "friend" she backed out last minute. So Miguel said he would take him out of the show if need be so I could still enjoy it.

We left PA around 4:40 w/ My brother Cory and his friend Justin. Riley decided to scream for a good 20 minutes on the way there and then fell asleep. Only to wake up w/ a half hour left to scream again till Cory & I switched so that he was driving and I was in the back w/ Riley. (I can't wait to our tax refund comes to get a different carseat) We got to the theatre really easily and of course it was in a semi crappy area. lol Cory & Justin decided to walk around the town a bit, while Miguel & I wait outside the theater. I felt so out of place standing there wearing Riley as the rest of the crowd was mostly college age guys. They finally opened the doors at 7pm and we went to get our tickets at will call.

I was surprized to see that I was actually on the list (a lot of times that has been messed up.. ) but they didnt have enough tickets for me in the envelope. Only 3 tickets when it clearly said "Cara Waugaman + 3" ... She was able to fix it easily as she has me in the system for 4 just didnt print out 4 tickets. I'm also glad I thought to bring my NY id w/ my maiden name on it. They use to not be able to remember Waugaman and now that I'm Cruz which is a lot easier they remember Waugaman.

We found our seats center section 3rd row! Thanks Ghostie! These are seats I would have KILLED for back when I was photographing him... They were old timey theater seats which both Miguel & I were worried about fitting our chubby asses into. But surprizingly they were really comfy. I fed Riley a jar of oatmeal while Miguel held him. And then he gummed a bitter biscuit for a bit. I went to change him while Miguel went to give Cory & Justin their tickets.

While we were waiting for the show to start, Riley decided he wanted to nurse. That was definetly a first for me at a Lynch show..lol Then Stephen came out on stage and I think Riley recongized his voice cause he popped off the boob so quickly and sat up. He sat so still and watched the first 3 or 4 songs before he decided he wanted the other boob. He nursed himself to sleep and was out the rest of the show. It was nice cause neither one of us had to leave the show but man i swear at home the littlest noise can wake him.

The show was amazing.. Totally different than the last tour.. He has added some video comedy bits here and there through out the show which are great!... Though it was a bit awkward when the giant screen has nothing but nake boobs and my brother is sitting next to me... It was also the first show that I didnt really photograph as my hands/arms were filled w/ this:

Riley was sleeping even as we were walking out towards the merchandise table to see the guys. So many drunken chicks gushed over him as we walked passed them. He woke up when this one chick wouldnt leave him alone and didnt have any volume control since she was drunk. But he was flirting like crazy as he always does.

In true Lynch show fashion, the security guards tried kicking us out before I got to talk to Stephen. Luckly the one guard really like Riley so he was willing to go check to see if Stephen actually knew me. Rod came out first to talk to us and the doors had a window at the top so i see his big goofy smile and then he opens it and says hey baby (to me ) when he spots Riley and goes "AWWWWWWWWW hey little man" He talked to riley and had him doing big belly laughs it was cute. We all chatted a bit and then Joberg came out (he has a 2 yr old and 9 month old sons) He was all into Ry and told me about his 9 month old as he is new since the last time I saw him. Joberg was saying how Riley made him miss his sons. I felt bad but he seemed to be having fun w/ Riley. Ry laughed and smiled for him a bit but not the deep laughs like for Rod.

After a couple minutes Lynch came out and it was instantly all about Riley. He went on and on about how cute Ry was. He asked if Riley watched the show and seemed slightly bothered that he slept through most of it but joked that he was lucky he got to nurse during it. He even took a photo of Riley w/ his cell phone to send to Erin "cause she'll just love him" He told me about how they have been watching a friends 4 month old for the past week for 10 hours a day. He went on to say that after the kid left one day he thought "this is why we dont have kids" He was obsessed w/ rileys toes..it was cute. He played w/ his foot the whole time he was talking to us even taking rileys sock off at one point. He said "baby toes are so funny" ... We talked a bit about what had been going on the last year and a bit about his new tour/album. When we were talking about the Pittsburgh show in the fall, I started to say "hopefully i'll have a sitter by then" as he was saying "bring him." When he heard me say sitter he was like "oooh ok..." all sad like. And here I was all worried that he would think I was crazy for bring a baby to his show.

Miguel mentioned that he had wished he had sang ugly baby cause he wanted to hold riley up during it. Lynch laughed, saying "oh but he'd probably be forced to hear about that the rest of his life" .. I said well u sang after our wedding it would only be fitting.. he goes i guess i do have to sing for all the milestones in ur life. Lynch was mad that i didnt let him know a head of time that riley liked "Vanilla Ice Cream" or he would have played it for him He then told me again "bring riley to any show u want" Riley reached out and grabbed Stephens hand and tried to eat it and dove towards Lynch for him to hold him.. He rarely does that. Stephen held Riley so I could take some photos of them together. Riley was right at ease w/ Lynch. He was all into playing w/ Stephens face like he has only done with Miguel and I. Stephen was such a great sport about it. Even when Riley spit up a bit almost getting him w/ it. At that point, Rod came back out saying He needed Stephen for something. So sadly we had to say good-bye. We hugged again and he said by to Riley several times.

Riley was awake about 15 minutes on the way home and then slept the rest of it. It was a great great great evening! I was so worried that it would be chaos and what not but it wasnt. So glad that Riley was in a great mood for them. Specially since he had been sleeping...sometimes when he wakes up hes not that friendly.. and sometimes he just wants me. I was glad he laughed and smiled for them.. And I'm glad they thought he was "a pretty cool baby"

So thats the story of Riley's 1st and not last Lynch show..

So I've barely had time to check email most days let alone update anything. So since I'm battling w/ him for sleep I decided I'd try to post an update.
He was 6 months on Feb 27th. seems unreal. He had a check up 2 days before that and was 12lbs 2ozs. Which means he gained 2lbs in less than a month and 3lbs since this whole weight gain issue started. Woohoo! He LOVES LOVES LOVES food. He takes baby food/purees really well. And dives at every bite we take. he stole a better cheddar from me the other night and before i could get it away from him he had it in his mouth. as I was taking it from him he got a piece of it, so i was getting ready to "go fishing" for it. but before i could he gummed it and swallowed. he then wanted more. he ate 2 crackers and then wanted to nurse.. i bet they were salty. lol the next day miguel gave him a frito.. lol since then when we were out to eat at red robin he ate some steak fries. he would gum them till the "skin" opened and then he would eat the mash potato middle of the fries..lol when he got a frie "empty" he would drop the "skin" and then bang the table for another one. then my burger arrived and he through a fit w/ every bite i took. so i broke of the smallest little grain of meat and gave it to him. he was in HEAVEN. lol he was "mmmm" while gumming it. he probably at 2 normal sizes bites of a burger by the time he was done. when we were waiting for the bill to arrive and the waitress was clearing the table she asked if we were done and took the plate from in front of me. as she took the plate, he grabbed the top of the bun from my burger that was sitting there. apparently he wasnt done..lol This morning he was pissed that I wouldnt share my poptart. I think we are going to do baby led weaning w/ him along side of a jar of food a day. He still nurses like a champ I dont see him giving up nursing anytime soon.

He is babblin' a lot more .. and he looks at you while doing it like hes trying to tell us something. Its so cute. He's interested in toys and faces a lot now. He is constantly reaching for a toy or the face in front of him. And like a true man he wants every remote control.

Still very into cloth diapering even w/ the start of solid poos. Its great cause hes hasnt had a rash at all and hes pooin a lot more so we are going though them a lot quicker. I cant imagine what we would be paying. I want to try some different diapers for coolness for summer as he seems to have my hot body temp. And I think I might have to break down and try a GM as

Everyone says he has redhair or mostly redhair.. I see it more as brown w/ red highlights that stand out in the sun. Then I saw this photo a friend took

He is def. "a happy spitter" he never seems to notice when he is spitting out food or milk.. This is him happy after eating prunes.
and then I tried to wipe his face off and he wasnt so happy anymore

shock, nerves, excitement.. miguel just kept saying "it shouldnt say pregnant thats too harsh of a word" lol he was thrilled though

Not for a second.

i knew on my 26th birthday (dec 21st) when my period was late as i was never late but didnt test till the day after christmas because i couldnt get to the store before then.

6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT?
Came home from work w/ the digital test, went upstairs .. barely set the test down to wait for the results before it "pregnant" showed up.

7. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST?
I called Miguel upstairs into what would be Riley's room and showed him. Then I called my mom and wanted her check her email to see the photo of the test. But she didnt want to go back upstairs so I just said "Fine, I'm pregnant" She then went upstairs to tell my dad & brother.. So she ended up upstairs anyways..lol

8. DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX?
At first I didnt .. Miguel did and we decided to so that we could spend our money wisely

The first few months I was nauseous most of the day but not enough to actually throw up.. just enough to feel off. Though I did throw up it was when I ate simple things like pancakes, cupcakes or bread.. The first month or so I also couldnt eat bacon. Thats when it got "real" to Miguel.. he said "You're picking off bacon... ok now i know you're pregnant"

11. WHAT DID YOU CRAVE?
HAMBURGERS! and slushies.. and the 3 month sherbert!! then one day i couldnt even look at it anymore.

12. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST?
I didn't really get irritable. I cried most of my pregnancy but I think that was more w/ the passing of my mom in April.

13. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX?
Boy

14. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING?
Not really I was happy either way though I thought a boy first as the older brother would be cool. At first Miguel wanted a girl. Riley was the first grandchild, first great grandchild and first boy in 30 years..

15. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY?
33lbs.. but most of that was due to having lymphedema in the left leg pre pregnancy.. it swelled so much more due to pregnancy.

Yes

Nope.. My mom and I had been planning it. But then my good friend Rachael took over and helped me.
